I’m going to test fit the body on the chassis and have 2 questions.
- when I removed the body there was a rotted piece of material on top of the Front T section. I put a white bar in the picture to denote where. What was that and can you buy it. I assume it’s to support the front body. Anyone have a deminsion for it.
- does the chassis pad , black foam like material, get glued to the chassis or just lay on it.
Thanks. Tom

Where the white bar is

You're probably thinking of the jute pad that goes there. That and the rest of the original type body/frame padding is NLA which is good because it retains moisture. Get some closed cell 3/8" neoprene foam (r.d. sells it or you might be able to get it locally) for your padding. I think you'll need to glue a few layers together to get the thickness you need there.

Thanks. Will do

How do you get the top suspension arms off an S2?
On a TC the long bolt has to be hit back through a hole in the inner wheel arch.
With that top suspension mounting, how does the top arm get dismantled, i.e. is the bolt the right way around?

Good eye!

The top bolt removal is the same. Hole in body work. Rear nut is welded on and front one comes off. Pain in the but to do anything with body on.
-
I think what 4129R is saying is that the bolt should go the other way.
-
4129R and Jb are right but if the nut on the rear end of the shaft is welded on, that should work.
-
Is the nut at the front welded on to the shaft, or is it undo-able?
When assembling a chassis separate from the shell, I have to think ahead the whole time to make sure I can take it apart again.
Another bolt which goes one way only is the rear trailing arm bolt. It can only go inwards towards the engine.
