Title: Pardon Me...your... Europa pictures please.
Post by: Lou Drozdowski on Monday,October 20, 2014, 02:34:09 PM
Ok...This is for members, with our group rapidly expanding, I was curious when reading a recent post.

If you currently own, or have owned a Europa, how about one nice photo.
Let's have this thread similar to a reference page.
Keep the format simple,  Production Mo/Yr.... Type.... Chassis #....

Feel free to add a few comments if you wish.ld

Here are a couple of views of my car different from my avatar. It started life as a '74 TCS (3635R) that I bought new. It now has only a few of its original parts (glass, body, seats, most of the gauges, steering rack, windshield wipers...). It now has a BDA built at Dave Bean, an NG3, twin link rear, vented front discs, rear discs, Compomotive modular wheels, and a few other mods.

I don't know if that's a true story or not but that is probably the most beautiful S2 I've ever seen! Congratulations, Joji!

Thanks BDA for the compliment but the car as it now exists is due to the efforts of the second owner. My job is to maintain it in it's present condition.

You have to admit though that StephenH's gorgeous green S2 is also up there. It's really a funny thing but I use to be a twink guy in terms of body style but after seeing how a S2 looks with it's front end lowered properly, I've swapped camps completely and think that a S2 with the uncut sail  and all hunkered down looks so right.

I can go both ways on the sails. Many years ago, I remember lamenting that my car didn't have more of a fast back look, but then, that is how the S2 looks. My preference is for the cut out sails of the TC, though (who wouldn't like a miniature El Camino?). I do wish I could get the nose down a little more on mine, though.

Of course I agree whole heatedly with you about StephenH's car. Lots of VERY pretty Europas around!

I agree on that Joji, I am now Twinker, but used to have an S2, but sold her to a Japanese expat who worked in Thailand, I still regret and want another S1 or S2 or Type47 till now :headbanger:

BDA car looks like a Japanese Style Europa to me, especially the gold trim decal and the wheel as in Kyosho die-cast model, I love it!! :beerchug:

P.S. I love both body line anyway  :beerchug:

1967, Type 46, #0384. = 1967 S1A, 460384, original color Cirrus White. It was restored and painted to lagoon blue many years ago. Purchased the car on March 11, 2015. Rescued it from sitting in the field since 1992 (23 years). To restore or part it out? That is the question.

I know the S1A chassis is rusted in the front where the T junction is.  It will be removed from the body from the chassis in the next few months for a closer evaluation. I am planning to take the chassis out from under. Will post pics and seek suggestions later on this.

Restore it!!! My chassis was ruthlessly removed with an angle grinder by the PO. Take plenty of pictures of it in its undisturbed state if you would! He cut the car up to a point where the front end now sags. now I have to make a bucks to prop it up and glass it back in.

Serge has a good section on his blog about how he got his out. Some say the bottom is easier, some say cutting through the firewall is the way to go. Mine was cut from the bottom and it damaged the body.

Thanks!! Yep it seems like we have fixed the issue by just changing the oil with heavier weight. School is going well too, got another test tomorrow then fall break. Last weekend was pretty fun because we finally won an important game. Go Vols! So all is doing well!

Thank you BDA, Will surely post some pics...

I have a list of changes i want to look into going forward :
  • Adjustable Coilovers, mainy to lower the front stance a bit.
  • Electronic ignition (breaker Points now)
  • Alu Radiator
  • Rear disk brake conversion
  • I would also like to put on some 15 inch Wheels with lower profile tyres. But i have had som diffculties finding out what actual Wheels fit on an unmodified S2 body

Regarding wheels, Richard on the Yahoo group has fitted 15" MGF wheels on his S2, and that's got standard bodywork. They are the same bolt pattern and I think he used 195/50 tyres all round, but it will be in the knowledgebase so easily checked.

Just wanted to add this weekends achievements :-)

Inspired by another Europa owner http://www.prevanders.net/europa/oilsystem.html (http://www.prevanders.net/europa/oilsystem.html) i have installed an external oil filter and thermostated oil cooler. I bought the bits from Mocal and manufactured the oil cooler duct in sheet aluminium. Then a local hydralic shop created the hoses.

It will be interesting to see how it all works out.
