Garage / Re: Reassembling the TCS doors

Next question: I cut the stop washers that keep the windows from going down very far. But now the windows are in danger of breaking through the bottom of the door. Has anyone bent the curved window tracks to give more clearance? And if so, how? I'm thinking of cutting a tighter curve through a 2x4, then clamping it to each of the lower legs of the track to increase their curvature slightly. It doesn't need much.

Not clear on what you mean.
You can't really bend the window tracks because they are set to the curvature of the window glass itself.
What you can do is remove a little from the bottom of the track if it looks to be interfering with the inner door surface.

I will probably “wing” it …thought a drawing would be helpful

I have this stolen pic from my hoard.
I don't know if the dimensions are valid but it might be possible to check against yours.
It's for an S2 and I also don't know all the differences compared to a TCS seat - probably the recline angle and the seat cushion 'webbing' on the later cars?

Intatrim has seats that fit. They have the basket weave too. Empi has a lowback that would work ok. I was close to buying some Intatrim but recovered mine last summer.

An old thread on seats when I was looking.

Not worth the risk of having the window go down farther. I would tack the gear/arm to stop it from moving too far. There is a thermal protection switch in the window motors. I was parked outside all day near Az summer and one window would not go up on a 45 minute drive. I think I put more tension in the spring to disable it. They are both sitting on my shelf.

Thanks JB I shall check which pump I have and change if necessary and shall remove regulator.
As to resizing photos thanks for the tips BDA. Hopefully I've attached a couple here successfully!
I shall inform of progress in eliminating black smoke.

Great photos, until I saw them side by side I'd not realised just how much bigger the Emira is compared to our cars, the Europa looks "dinky" in those comparisons.  I do like the styling of the Evora and Emira even though I don't find myself wanting to buy one even though over here in the UK the prices of new or very low mileage (200-300 ?) cars are dropping and the waiting list premiums have completely vanished.

That's a good set of comparison shots, I didn't realise how much narrower the Elise seats are compared with the OEM Europa ones. And the Elise seats you  have are the ones with extra padding, the S1 seats are even thinner on your backside !

I've never tried mine in the Europa and you're right, being much taller they do look out of place unless of course you're going for the competition/track car look.

Like BDA I don't have anything special in terms of radio suppression. Petronix ignition, 5k resistance NGK plug caps with copper wires and that's about it.

These days I usually have an SD card with tracks played at random from a relatively cheap media player. The radio is hooked up with a small amplified aerial hidden at the front of the car and does work reasonably well with mainstream and local stations on FM.

It might be down to modern electronics but I don't recall any problems with reception even back in the 80s/90s with FM, conventional aerials coming up from the front wing and decent radios like Radiomobile, etc.

Wasn't someone selling the Europa seat parts in a "flat" kit, where the pieces were pre-cut but needed welding?

I see R.D. has seat tracks.

I’m glad it wasn’t something serious like worn bearings!
