A question for those of you in sunny, hot climes: what glue did you use for your upholstery? I have used 3M 90 on the roof liner with good success but it was not good at holding down the vinyl on the dash (S1).
-
I have seen many recommendations for DAP Weldbond. Just bought some yesterday at Lowes and used it on some door trim. Much better than the 3M stuff IMO but better place it right first time as it is very sticky.
-
Do you mean "Weldwood"? If so, which type?
-
It is very frustrating to finish up an interior re-trim and watch the glue release on the first hot weekend. I have tried the 3M products and they all seems to let go in the heat. The standard Weldwood is sticky but softens with heat and age.
The only glue that I have had any success with is DAP Landau and Top adhesive.

It is only available in 1 gallon+ sizes and may be difficult to get in California.

Apparently it is available in quarts.
From the questions section:
Q: Does anyone know if this product sold in quarts or pints?
A: Thank you for the interest. We do actually offer this item in quarts. It is $14.95 per quart. Unfortunately, we have yet to list it on Amazon. However, you can give us a call and we can take your order over the phone and get it shipped to you. Thank you and we look forward to the business. 1-800-647-1035

In the UK the best glue, in my humble opinion, is Evostik contact adhesive. Quite hard to get these days because its popular for sniffing. I did my headlining and my dashboard with it with great results. But you must get it right first time!
-
Evostik starts to fail at higher temperatures, I would not use it!. I used it on a couple of trim pieces and part of a headlining (I ran out of the proper stuff) and it failed in the heat and the other bites didn't. I use the contact adhesive that the trim guys use (can't remember the name tho) and that works fine.

On a recommendation from the yahoo list I went with Sprayway 92 FAST TACK Hi-Temp Heavy Duty Trim Adhesive. It's meant for vinyl tops so I'm hopeful it will do the trick. While installing the dash cover I had it out in the sun to soften things will I trimmed, stretched and smoothed things. It got so hot that the fabric would burn my hands. No wonder the other adhesive failed (3M 90).

I can't see that being a problem in the North of England!!

I'm in (somewhat) northern Canada. It isn't the heat, temp was under 20C, it's the clear skies and sun that cooks the dash.
