3276R - 1973 Special

Making slow but steady progress.  Front hubs rebuilt and new pads and rotors fitted.

Special master cylinder removal was a challenge, now on to rebuilding it.

The reservoir attachment method is as cruel and unusual as the location of master cylinder relative to steering rack.

I have read posts mentioning drilling a hole to destroy circlip. Surely Girling must have considered the need to service the unit.

Any inspiration for safely removing the reservoir?  Feeling a Wilwood remote reservoir, tandem replacement coming on......

I think I saw there was some special tool to take it off. If you are going to rebuild yours, you might want to consult a shop that specializes in old British cars before you do anything drastic. You might consider sending it to White Post Restorations (whitepost.com). They will certainly take it apart properly and sleeve it for longer life. They have pretty quick turn around too.

Apparently dental style forceps and another Europa owner were all that was needed.

Visited Dr Dean today and had a successful extraction.  Uniform upward pressure did the job with minimal damage to the shoulder on the reservoir.

Onto the rebuild.......
