HELLO FROM AUSTRALIA - JUST JOINED TODAY
« on: Thursday,September 22, 2016, 06:07:46 PM »
My name is Richard Mann. I've been on the Yahoo site for years as Raceman Engineering, and thought I should join this group.

I have owned 7004100119Q since 1987. It is a 1970 S2 painted silver. I fully restored the car 10+ years ago. It has had a variety of Renault cross flow engines. I've probably built 20 over the years for Europas and Alpines.

In  2009 I purchased 47-GT-3 from England. It is the Chris Barber car. Partially restored and awaiting my undivided attention to be completed. Along with 47-GT-3 came an almost complete S1. 460047. This car was sold into Switzerland and bought by the previous  47 owner as a "parts car" for door hardware etc.  These early S1 cars have some unusual features like fixed glass side windows, and subtle differences in the glasswork inside the cabin, and inside the front boot. They also have Oddie fasteners for the front and rear lid openings. These features were limited to the first 150 or so cars.

I have lots of knowledge regarding Renault engines, and about 4 dismantled cross flow engines. Please feel free to contact me regarding information or parts.

I'm located in South Melbourne, Victoria Australia, so if you are visiting the land of Oz, please look me up!

Cheers

Richard Mann

:Welcome: Richard!

It sounds like you'll be a great addition to the talent here!

Actually, I already know of you! My friend Ken Andersson, is copying your twin link rear suspension design and we've talked about it at some depth. It's a very interesting and clever design.

It's great to have you and don't forget to post lots of pictures!  :)

I can say from a brief passenger seat ride that Richards S2 goes like stink with a very healthy Renault installed.
Hopefully he doesn't mind a sneak view of his work in progress 47, taken at a Lotus club night earlier this year.

Richard,

Welcome to the forum.  I've seen a lot of pictures of your S2 over the years and from what I remember, you have done a lot of work on the rear suspension.  Can you share some pictures with us and details of the parts you used?

Thanks

Tom

Welcome to the forum, Richard. Sounds like some interesting machines residing in your garage. Looking forward to seeing more of your 47. Cheers  :beerchug:
The Twin Cam plays the symphony whilst my right foot conducts the orchestra. At 3800 rpm the Mad Pipe Organ joins in.
