Thanks BDA,
I was leaning toward the stainless but now may go with the brass since I Have a lot of 1” x3” brass stock to make the bobbins so there won’t be any dissimilar metal corrosion in doors however the stock bobbins are still installed in the body.
My body bobbins are not worn and a 1/2 rod is a perfect fit.

The coco mats from cocomat.com are backed with rubber with nibs that keep the mats from moving around.

Hi all,

I have coco mats in my Healey 3000, and they are very nice but also very heavy (defeats the Lotus Lightness Initiative).  Its the rubber backing they install on them.

Interesting. The coco mats I have aren't backed, but they're 40 years old.

I got my carpet kit from AutoMat (see my previous post). They can embroider the Lotus logo in the mats. Look on the second page of Main Gallery of the Gallery for a picture of my mat with the logo.

Both r.d. enterprises (stainless steel copies of the original hinges) and Banks (brass hinge kit of a completely different design) hinge kits contain only hinge bits. The assumption is that the bobbins in the body and the door are in good shape. In fact, the hinges I got from Banks assumed that my body bobbins were worn and the pin part that sits in the body bobbins was too thick so I had to have them turned down a bit so if you get them check the fit first. If there is a problem with your bobbins, you'll have to take care of that first.

I originally bought r.d.'s first before I had heard of the Bank's kit. The Bank's kit seemed to be easier to set up so I used them. Since I only have experience with the Bank's kit, I can't say which is better/easier. The Bank's kit has the advantage that it allows you to take the door off and you'll only have to readjust the height of the door. I'm happy with the Bank's hinges.

Quick question guys ,
Do either of the door hinge kits come with the bobbins in the upper and lower door?

Hi all,

I have coco mats in my Healey 3000, and they are very nice but also very heavy (defeats the Lotus Lightness Initiative).  Its the rubber backing they install on them.

The weather tech ones I also have in my Truck and the wife's VW beetle, and are very light and form fitting.  Very nice, but they probably don't make one for the Lotus.

Also, I for one would like ones that have the Lotus Logo on them if possible....still haven't found any.....Mayhap someone makes custom ones that can get the logo stitched onto them? though copyright laws are a bitch.

Hopefully someone will pipe up with a nice looking set and where to purchase?  Jerry Rude 4005R

Good thread BDA, we also have members doing complete engine rebuilds. It’s a daily must read for me. USA and the Uk here also. At times it seems my build is stalled, sometimes overwhelming and then we read the obstacles others are dealing with and just want to help.

Again a shout out to Serge and his videos.

Lastly to all the hero members and so newbies who pass on great advice, Thank you!
