MLS gaskets for sale
« on: Tuesday,September 05, 2017, 10:46:49 PM »

Hi all,

I have an S2 project with the Renault engine. I have had an mls gasket made to suit, please see the pictures below. Given the  dimensions are now in the computer if anyone interested in having one made please let me know. The bore size can be made to any size so if you have a 1470 or 1565 or other please advise.

 Cheers,

Willa.

What thickness is it compressed?

Cost?

Due to the expansion and contraction of all alloy engine without stretch torqued head bolts, still retorque the head as per manual.

Hi JB
The gaskets are 1mm however it is possible for them to be thicker, there would be an additional cost. Regarding cost, there is a diminishing cost for volume, plus the freight. The best way to provide a cost would be to gauge interest / quantity and get a quote from the supplier. As an indication, they would be around $200 - $300aud
Cheers

Are they designed for engines with protruding liners?  Due to the fact the liners expand less than the surrounding block, the liners protrude so as to maintain pressure on the gasket when the engine is hot.  This is the reason that head gasket failures are so common on carelessly maintained and/or assembled engines.

The reason I ask is that MLS gaskets require very finely finished surfaces and have very low tolerance for any variation from completely true.  I'd be surprised if they would work with the Renault engine's protruding liners.

HI JB
Thank you for your comments, I am not sure exactly how the gaskets will go however I will ensure a good finish in the mating surfaces... and keep you posted.
I do however expect they will work very well!!

Cheers,

Willa.
