WTB '84 - '86 Porsche 911 Coupe
« on: Monday,December 17, 2012, 03:21:23 PM »
Having been away from Porsche 911's I have the desire to get back to it.  Have owned many before and foolishly sold my last '86 Coupe to fund a '70 Boss 302 (now gone).

Musts:
Be stock with all smog equipment intact
No rust and no majors
Unless I can inspect I need a PPI (I pay of course)
No black, guards red paint
No white or extremely light interior, tan o.k
No blue smoke on cold start up and syncros must be sound
I've been well trained........I know what to look for.
Yes, Porsche guys are a PITA, at least I am polite about it.

Mike

I hope they aren't regarded as a PITA Mike, we've been looking for "the right" Cayman for around 6 months now......     :)

B,

Caymans are beautiful.    Very well designed and quite pleasing to the eye.

Here is a little vid of an ex-pat from the U.K.  Now in L.A.........

Yep Mike, I must admit I've been quite taken with them. I always liked the 911 engineering and styling but the only thing I didn't like was the engine in the back, it seemed all wrong.  So when they bought out the Cayman,  which if you squint hard enough (or I just take my glasses off),   has similar side profile to the 911, well, clearly they'd designed it just for me.

I've had project manager(ess) approval for almost a year now, complete with piggy bank all set up to be broken into but there's not been anything with a big enough pull.  As usual I start off wanting "anything with wheels" but end up being very picky - no black paint, no big wheels, etc, and the truth is that in the UK there just aren't that many about so it will take time.  No hurry, although I would like one for next spring when we go round Scotland again, there are great driving roads in Scotland with very little traffic and even fewer speed cameras  >:D
