Another Lotus on TV
« on: Thursday,April 26, 2018, 11:33:39 AM »
I came across yet another 2-Brits-fix-and-flip-classic-cars show recently called SALVAGE HUNTERS: CLASSIC CARS. Sort of in the model of Wheeler Dealers. Apparently it's been available in the UK since January, but just now available in the US on the Velocity network.

The first episode has the hosts flipping an Elan +2. Not a lot of new information here except an interesting discussion about paint blistering (Lotus acne, they call it). They make a big deal about special prep needed when respraying fiberglass cars to prevent the return of acne, then send the car off to a "specialist" for paint without going into the details about what's different about the prep. As my car has that pimply teenager look I was hoping for a bit of guidance, either living with paint zits or how to prevent them coming back after a respray.

The show was worth a watch if for no other reason than the heart flutter one gets when briefly viewing a well maintained twin cam engine.
