Title: TCS restoration x prod racing
Post by: buzzer on Thursday,May 08, 2014, 02:15:43 PM
I though I would start posting a bit more on progress of the restoration of my TCS, apart form the doors boot and bonnet I have finished the body prep work at last. It has taken ages ...! The rest should not take me too long than I can get to grips with pulling the chassis together.
Pics
As it was a year ago.
As it is now, I think its obvious which is which. Also a picture of the front boot (trunk) which I plan to leave original to show some of the history of the car

The body has been stripped back to fibreglass, all the body mounts redone and the original crash repairs redone. All the crazing ground out and the body tissued where needed, then upol sprayed on and flatted down.
Next stage is to finish  the boot, bonnet and doors and trial fit lights and fitting.

Now that's progress !  Just wait until you get the first coat of primer on and it all becomes the same colour, that's the stage at which I can finally see the end product coming close.

Nice going Dave.   It is so time consuming to do that.   I look forward to the progress.

All bodywork ready for testing fitting and hopefully a roll cage if I can get one.

A few more pics
The lights fit. I had to adjust the bonnet and boot lids to fit the body profile, slotting the sides of the boot and bonnet, closing up the joints and re-bonding, so have a nice fit now

And the doors open and close!  Whey hey!

Dave,

Looking good. What did you have to do to make the front spoiler fit. Looks like a good tight fit.

The spoiler isn't fitted properly yet and it is still creased just doesn't show on the pictures!.
On the roll cage, there are a few options and the one I want to fit is from Banks Europa as it, in my opinion provides good protection with minimal impact on the lines of the car, but getting hold of one is tricky.  Great care needs to be taken in ensuring the bends are done correctly to get the right fit.
Painting the chassis next?...
