Type 365 selector shaft seal replacement
« on: Tuesday,October 20, 2015, 10:08:26 AM »
Does anyone know if I can replace the selector shaft seal on a 365 gearbox without removing the rear cover? In other words, can it be pried out from the outside and then the new be pushed back into place? How about the bushing?
If the rear cover needs to come off, can that be done without removing the transmission?

This is my biggest leak and I'm wondering what I'm in for to fix it.... or at least slow it down.
Thanks for any insight.

Certainly not the bushing as the shaft will still be in place.  It looks like the seal is an o-ring that is on the inside of the bushing (see parts manual).  Cover off, I'm afraid.

"felt washer (A of Fig. 74) behind the bush"

The seal is on the outside of the bush and easily replaced with the cover on.
