Hey Piper,

Is this what you were looking for? http://www.lotuseuropa.org/LotusForum/index.php?topic=1041.msg8431#msg8431

I thought you had more than seven posts though...

That looks really good! Which tranny are you using? Is it going to be a street car or are you going to race it?

Keep those pictures coming!

I'd never heard of the Espace! Since Renault hasn't exported cars to the US since the Fuego, we don't hear much about them over here. Renault seems to have made a lot of different transaxles that can be used in a mid engine configuration. I never understood how the Fuego was put together and not have it have a long snout, but maybe that's become sort of a trademark for them sort of like the rear engine configuration is for Porsche.

I remember Matra Simca from back in the day. I'm having a harder time envisioning how the engine and transaxle fit in the Espace! There doesn't seem to be enough car in front of the front wheels for the engine to fit so I assume the engine is behind the transaxle?

 :)  oooooo, I remember those !!!

Your pictures took me back well over 40 years to the first time I ever saw one.  It was blue and I was, as a typical spotty "youf" of the day, riding a motorbike. I caught it up and was just stunned that I could look down on the driver.....   I was easily amused in those days as well !  But it left a lasting impression on me which to this day I've not forgotten.

I haven't seen one in years and even back in the 60s & 70s they were rare cars.  The new owner is very lucky to get yours.

Ahh, a production run of 90 or less explains why our local Asda wasn't packed with them, doesn't it ?

By the mid 70s I'd got into cars and had a Marcos, which was very much the same sort of thing. I'm betting if you had the Piper in the 70s you would have been to the Marcos Owners Club weekends at Donnington in the Midlands ? Although it was billed as MOC day we used to get all sorts of sporty cars from the 60s turning up and I can remember being there one year with a line of Pipers parked up on the grass.  The large rear screen always took my eye and I bet it must have got very hot in there at times.
