I'm new here, but not to Lotus
« on: Wednesday,August 15, 2012, 12:09:15 PM »
I've been a Lotus fan for some 23 years, mostly Esprits; even though I had an Exige. In 2010 I decided to build a "Track Car", so in my search I found a former SCCA vintage Europa TC. It was raced in Texas until 1997 and sat until I bought it in March of 2010.  Wanting to make it look like the "Gold Leaf" Europas of the '60s, I spent a year redoing the car. It has been to two track days and it is a blast to drive. On the last track day I think I broke a valve spring, so I have to pull the engine. I'm not to good at the form thing and don't post very much. Ill try to add a before and after picture.

 :Welcome:
Gene, that is a very nicely prepared car. What classification is your running?

Gene, that is one serious looking Europa. Looking forward to seeing and hearing more of it. Oh, and welcome to the forum.  :beerchug:

Gene,

don't be shy here.  The more folks write in the better this site is going to be.  Joe has gone to alot of work so we need to support this effort.  Look at it like....... us needing you.

Your assignment:
pictures and stories on your build to include you engine woes and the fix.  Supposed to be a very good TC builder in Florida, forget his name but in my records.

Hi Gene,

Welcome to the forum, that's one very impressive "toy" !  It looks a very well prepared car, do you track just for fun or is it more competitive ?  Although my interest is just road cars there seem to be more guys here who are into competition, so I think you've found the right forum.

I'll look forward to hearing about the car set up & build, it looks a good tale.

Brian

Edit to add - do you still have other Lotus cars as well ?  Although this is a Europa forum it's always interesting to hear about other cars, it adds a bit of variety to the mix.

Thanks guys! The Europa is just a track day car. Its been a blast so far, but I have to fix the engine and get it back on the track. I do all the work myself except for paint and machine shop stuff. It's just for fun. I'm not trying to be the fastest guy out there. Oh, I still have a FE Esprit. Just love Lotus cars.
