It looks like a blast from the past. I wonder where it was taken...

Some detective work...The banner on the trucks indicate "Kings Lynn" which is an eastern seaport town in the county of Norfolk.  Since  the Europa's have the federal marker lamps front and rear, my guess is they were headed for a long boat ride across the Atlantic. The transporters also have the period correct UK tags. ld

K and L reg on the number plates is 1971-1972.

I have just come from Kings Lynn by train to London. It is not an international port, but no doubt Chunky got a good deal from the trucking company.

Here is how 3755R started its journey from Colorado back to Norfolk.

Bigger truck, much lighter load.

That last picture could easily be the same truck pictured at the start of the thread. At first glance it looks like the same number plate and cars ?  An amazing coincidence if it is !

Good morning 4129R   :)

I thought it was the same cars going on the colours of the ones at the back. It would be too much of a coincidence for the same colour order with a different delivery.  Going back 30-odd years it wouldn't surprise me if Lotus had a cheap deal to export from there, presumably they handled more cargo back then ?

Ask for "Garth"...How cool is that!

Combo platter in the middle shot with S2's on top and Twinks underneath.

Now, if I could only have all those cars in the lower photo...but,I'll settle for the top row please! ld

Sounds like he gave very personal service!  :)

Sounds like he was very cheap, and waited a very long time to be paid by Chunky !

I can't see cars being exported from King's Lynn. More like he took them to Felixstowe or Harwich on the East coast.

As seen today on Facebook...

Brooklands...A very tidy Europa with Cosmic wheels, and a Harrier jump jet as backdrop...cool!

Don't know much about the second shot...nice finish, but the black windscreen trim needs updating. ld

Beautiful! These show how black can be the most striking color for a car. It's also the most difficult to maintain.

Couple of things...trolling Facebook, I came across a public Europa members group with about 60 followers. I was wondering if any of our community folks were involved.

70's photo of Bee Gees Barry Gibb...I guess he wasn't too particular on where he planted himself for the picture.
I would (#*<*%@")  someone for leaning on an open door let alone placing his arse on the bonnet...wearing shoes!!!

Pretty, but I'd lose the wing. With the small original chin spoiler, that's got to throw off the balance.

With the wing, it's the car from 70s comic series, Circuit Wolf.

My guess from front to back is: yellow Mazda something, red TCS, "orange' Honda 600, brown Ford Torino station wagon, white Ford Maverick, gold (?) Corvette Stingray convertible. I have no clue what is behind the TCS and I don't know the brand or model of the camper.

Looks like you are correct with the exception of the Honda. I think that is a early CVCC, 1st generation after the 600s

I think I had one of those Hondas, but I didn't have it long enough to remember which model it was. You're probably right, Joe.

A sibling of the 47 was the type 62...only two were produced and they both survive today. One in Japan and Hollywood, you can see the continued semblance of Europa flavor in this rare machine.

Thank you Richard, at Classic Team Lotus for the opportunity to share your photo...ld

I will soon be fitting a new hand brake cable to a new chassis for 4688R. The chassis is currently being painted with multiple coats of paint with a brush to get into all the corners, and it is about 5ft off the ground.

Fitting the cable will be so easy in the standing position.

Has the woman got "Locomotive Breath"?

Trying to trace that road junction on Google Earth. It is supposed to be Kempston High Street and Bedford Road, with a sign to Elstow and Woburn Sands.

I will find that junction soon. Near Milton Keynes and Bedford.

Cheers Lou. Is it wrong that when I look at that photograph all I can think about is the damage she might be doing to the fiberglass?  :o

Is there no bellhousing on that Cosworth install?

Is that the flywheel & pressure plate I'm seeing?
Title: Re: Saw this on FB
Post by: Certified Lotus on Saturday,April 08, 2017, 02:56:25 PM
You would be correct there is no bell housing. Amazing. Personally I'm not impressed with the install. Too crowded and not practical. But to each his own.

I do wonder how much HP this engine creates with it being turbo charged and what kind of power delivery it has (linear or big rush at a certain rpm).

Also looks like there has been some fiberglass melting due to heat from the exhaust manifold. Good luck with that........

I agree. I made sure I kept my trunk tray on my car. I don't think there's any way he could have kept his trunk tray even if he wanted to so given what he was trying to do, I think he did a nice job. I hadn't noticed that he didn't have a bell housing. That's an interesting feature. I'm not sure I would have done that - I don't like the idea of having the clutch and throw out bearing unprotected but it must have been an interesting problem to solve.
