Where to route the throttle cable
« on: Monday,July 15, 2013, 09:50:58 AM »
I am in the final stages of putting my interior back into my car. I can not remember the throttle cable routing. Was it originally in a tube attached to the tunnel? If someone has a stock TC Special can you take a look and let me know where it exits the passenger compartment?

My TC has the cable inside the carpet, running down to the floor and out the same grommet as the clutch cable.

Thanks for the info Roger.

Thanks you Joji. Is it just the cable under the carpet? I was contemplating mounting a tube to slide the cable inside just in case I ever needed to replace the cable. But maybe I'm over thinking this

Joe,

The bare throttle cable runs midway along the center backbone and runs under the side carpet as seen from the picture. I can feel the cable make a gentle bend down towards the corner where it exits the passenger compartment. It' really hard to tell where the sheath for the cable begins; it's somewhere under the side carpet.

These pictures are helpful to me as well. I'm replacing my throttle cable this week. Cheers.

There's a stop for the outer cable screwed to the wall of the backbone - it's situated just behind where the inner disappears in Joji's photo.

Grumblebuns, from what I can see in your photo mine's not like yours - you do not appear to have an outer cable inside the car, so I can't see how yours works. Where does it connect to the pedal?

Roger

I think this picture will explain how it all attaches.

Joji, it's not yours in question, that's just like mine.
It's Grumblebum's I don't understand!

Forgive my idiocy - it arises from reading and answering the forum with a hand-held device.

I understand the picture showing the pedals and attachment of the inner cable.  I don't understand the photo that seems to show 2 inner cables side by side at the exit from the cockpit. I assume one is clutch, the other throttle - but where's its outer?

Roger,

Sorry for the confusion, I posted pictures from two different TCSs. The pictures showing the bare cockpit is from my Cosworth powered Europa project. The two cables are for the dual 45 DCOEs entering the compartment. I need to get longer cables to reach the gas pedal, they are a little bit too short. No clutch cable for this one, hydraulic clutch setup.
